Before we officially say goodbye to 2017 and welcome the new year, I want to look back on this year and share some of the best moments of the year.
Starting off with Maria Grazia Chiuri and Dior continuing to champion feminism with a new line of thought-provoking tops. Many were based on female rights and equality for all.
Aerie Launched its Real Me Nude Collection, the brand is known for encouraging self-love and added the addition of five new nude shades to its collection.
Something very similar was done by Rihanna in her makeup line, FENTY BEAUTY, it was created “for women of all shades, personalities, attitudes, cultures, and races,” -Rihanna wrote.
Sports Illustrated Featured a swimsuit ad without using traditional models. “Every Body, Every Age, Every Beautiful.” Anyone can be whatever they want to be, society alters our view of others and ourselves. We are shown that ‘beautiful is thin,’ ‘sexy is women showing skin,’ and that to be a model you have to look a certain way, but that isn’t true at all. This year has been a busy year with many impactful political events, positive movements that fight for equality, love and respect. While several events have impacted several U.S. citizens and people globally, we still always find a way to stick together and stay positive. This year has brought me joy, hope, success, and love.
A few of my new year’s resolutions are; taking risks, focus on my career, expand my knowledge, eat more greens and enjoy every single day. I look forward to seeing what 2018 may bring for all of us. Wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!
